About me
Blazing a trail toward collaborative educational environments for all, Molly Sholten has focused her career around inspiring teachers to build collaborative classroom and school learning cultures that reach the academic and social emotional goals necessary for students to succeed. Molly wins hearts and minds through her approach to supporting the development of educators, ultimately encouraging them to achieve more than they thought possible in their quest to help kids reach their full potential.
Molly joined the Institute for Excellence in Education in 2011 as an Instructional Coach, and rapidly grew her scope of responsibilities to include human resources, grant coordination and delivery of the Focused Instructional Model, impacting growth among teaching teams to achieve higher levels of student engagement and learning. Understanding that success takes dedication and discipline, Molly works to advance K-12 professional development in numerous districts across the nation – including Mayville Elementary (Michigan), Marino Valley School District (California), Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools (North Carolina) and Chicago Public Schools (Illinois).
In her journey to expand professional enrichment and to share knowledge, Molly has been invited to present and share best practices at conferences and workshops over the years, including the U.S. Department of Education, the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, the Michigan Association of Public School Academies, the Michigan Association of Middle School Educators, the Ohio Alliance for Public Charter Schools and The Governor John Engler Center for Charter Schools at Central Michigan University. In the summer of 2015, Molly was selected to participate in the Turnaround Leadership Institute at the Harvard Graduate School for Education.
Propelled toward making a difference for all students, early in her career Molly dedicated over eight years to teaching and learning, where she contributed to growing students as a mathematics instructor, and growing teachers as a Cognitive Coach, for White Pine Middle School and Arrowwood Elementary, respectively. Recognized as a leader amongst her peers, Molly was tapped to serve on the School Improvement and Leadership Teams.
Molly earned her Master of Educational Leadership Degree in 2005 from Saginaw Valley State University and Bachelor of Science in Education Degree in 2002 from Central Michigan University.
