FUNdamentals of Physical Education for Preschoolers

Come and join in the FUN as we participate in a variety of activities focusing on Music and Movement. The connection to Movement Concepts and selected Locomotor Skills will be addressed. Age appropriate music and equipment will be shared. Come move with us!
  • Participants will understand the importance of movement for the development of the whole child.
  • Participants will understand the relationship between Music and Movement and Physical Education Movement Concepts and selected locomotor skills.
  • Participants will understand the differences of structured and unstructured play and the contribution both make to moving to learn and learning to move.
  • Participants will be exposed to age appropriate music and equipment
  • Participants will try different activity ideas
Come dressed comfortably.  This is an activity session.

Bio:
Lolly Romano is a former Adapted Physical Education Resource Teacher who retired from Honolulu District in 2013. She obtained a degree in Health and Physical Education (UH-Manoa), and a Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction (UH Manoa). She was a Adapted Physical Education National Standards (APENS) teacher and a Certified Adapted Physical Education (CAPE) Teacher. Lolly worked for 27 years as a district resource teacher (Central, Windward, Honolulu) and four years as a elementary PE specialist (Kapaa Elementary). She is currently employed as a part-time teacher with Leeward District Annex Special Education where she coordinates the Annual Districtwide Preschool Play Day. After decades of training in the area of Physical Education Lolly is still excited to work with preschool aged children and teachers. She believes building a strong foundation in the area of gross motor skills is paramount in the education of young children.
