Authentic Assessments to IEP Development & Implementation
Thursday October 10, 2024 9:05am - 10:35am HST
Play is a critical medium for assessing, teaching, and providing intervention to preschool learners. In this session, participants will learn about different types of play and how to match these types of play to specific leaning styles. Emphasis will be placed on preschool learners who are neurodiverse, and or served through an IEP. Participants will gain skills to use as they facilitate play for a variety of reasons within an early childhood classroom. Next, participants will see how this type of instruction and intervention can be used to guide IEP goals and plan for support to students throughout the routines of the preschool day.

Transdisciplinary Play-Based Assessments
Friday October 11, 2024 9:05am - 10:35am HST
In this session participants will learn about TPBA2 as an assessment system that can be used as a comprehensive tool for a variety of needs for our youngest learners. Hence, TPBA2, when used to fidelity, is so much more than single measure. Therefore, through learning about all facets of TPBA2, participants will know how to build a deep and rich background description of the child and family; how to utilize that information as a team to plan for an authentic play session experience; how to effectively include the family as part of the observations in the play session; and ultimately how this comprehensive body of evidence leads to effective decisions about eligibility and the IEP.
